The Simple Mental Shift That Ignites Careers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/552331848\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I watched a gorgeous chocolate-coloured dog just now, waiting outside my local coffee shop.<\/p>\n<p>He was the most delightful little spaniel, with huge curious eyes and an alert face.<\/p>\n<p>As I watched him, I noticed how <strong>obedient<\/strong> he was, <strong>waiting patiently<\/strong> for his owner to emerge from the coffee shop with her latte.<\/p>\n<p>I guessed until she came, <em>he was content to wait there forever<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Waiting for permission to take action<\/strong> doesn\u2019t compute so well in the<em> human<\/em> world&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Certainly not in the<em> corporate<\/em> world.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been a Career Success Coach now, for corporate women in finance and consultancy, for over ten years&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And in that time I have seen a number of consistent themes emerge.<\/p>\n<p>One, is that a lot of women &#8211; regardless of their seniority &#8211; <strong>can wait for an eternity to pipe up and share their authority with the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Does that resonate with you?<\/p>\n<p>Put simply, <strong>waiting for permission to share your genius could cost you<\/strong> your next big career opportunity, deep fulfilment from your work and long-lasting damage to your esteem.<\/p>\n<p>You truly can&#8217;t afford <em><strong>not to<\/strong><\/em> assume your authority!<\/p>\n<p>So what does &#8216;authority&#8217; mean?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Well, for me, &#8216;authority&#8217; means two things:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Firstly,<em> it\u2019s what\u2019s in your head<\/em>: your deep expertise, your vast experience, your ideas had ability to problem solve.<\/p>\n<p>And secondly, <em>it\u2019s how you present<\/em> this to your clients, to your peers, your team and key decision makers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1611\" src=\"https:\/\/illuminategrowth.com.au\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Authority-graphic.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/illuminategrowth.com.au\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Authority-graphic.png 439w, https:\/\/illuminategrowth.com.au\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Authority-graphic-300x292.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Self-doubt<\/strong> is what stops a lot of women from <em><strong>assuming their own authority<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>They doubt the<strong> extent<\/strong> of their expertise and experience&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And consequently, often struggle to <em><strong>be<\/strong> <\/em>an authority in public forums.<\/p>\n<p>Now I know you\u2019re an intelligent woman with ambition, a career vision and stretching goals&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And one of the surefire strategies to fast track that progress is to <strong>assume your own authority<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That means&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Assuming you already<\/strong><\/em> have all the skills, expertise and experience to share a well-considered opinion or argument (because you absolutely do)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Whilst <em><strong>also<\/strong> <\/em>presenting your ideas with all the confidence and influence that you can muster.<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s the fascinating bit&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>When you assume that you <em><strong>already<\/strong> <\/em>have something phenomenally valuable to share&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Others (those people who can help you advance your career) <em><strong>assume the same of you too<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And everything in your career gets easier when you are<em><strong> perceived<\/strong><\/em> how you wish to be.<\/p>\n<p>What is your experience when you assume your own authority&#8230;
