I was interviewed this week and asked what the most common challenges that women in corporate are experiencing right now.<\/p>\n

Hmmm – it’s a great question!<\/p>\n

Given I am coaching 50 women a week, through our courses and 1:1 coaching programs, I put together this list.<\/p>\n

8 Challenges Women in Corporate Are Having Right Now:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Feeling\u00a0unrecognised<\/strong> or invisible<\/li>\n
  2. Operating in sometimes\u00a0toxic\u00a0or\u00a0biased<\/strong> organisations\u200b\u200b limiting your potential<\/li>\n
  3. Feeling burned out, overworked, emotionally exhausted<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Struggling to negotiate better deals\u00a0<\/strong>– whether for a promotion, pay rise or new career opportunity<\/li>\n
  5. Self doubt<\/strong> about yourself or the value of your contribution<\/strong> (this can linger for a lifetime)\u200b\u200b<\/li>\n
  6. Being overlooked<\/strong> for promotion despite working really hard<\/em><\/li>\n
  7. Building effective alliances with senior leaders<\/strong><\/li>\n
  8. Lacking direction<\/strong>, no sign of purposeful career planning<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    So how can you move forwards?<\/h3>\n

    Well, the most important first move… is to take a step back.<\/p>\n

    All too often we get caught up in the detail, the doing, the operational side of our work and forget the bigger picture.<\/p>\n

    Here are a few tips to get some forwards momentum today:<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Review the list above and tick any that are causing you stress or sleepless nights.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Add any additional factors (that aren’t listed) that are challenging you right now.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Take a deep breath… a deeper one still….and exhale. \ud83d\ude42 Put that list to one side.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

           <\/p>\n

          \n

           <\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Get a separate piece of paper. In the centre, write “What’s Missing?”<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

             <\/p>\n

              \n
            1. On this piece of paper, brainstorm everything that is missing from your life and career right now. You’ll probably find that a lot of what you have listed is emotional (stuff you need).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

               <\/p>\n

                \n
              1. Get a third piece of paper and write in the centre, “What do I want?”. Think big picture, long term, think BIG. What do you want from your career in the next 3 years? What would success look like for you? If you could have everything as you wished it to be, what would that look like? You will probably list more rational factors here (what you want).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                1. Sit back and review these 2 lists.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                   <\/p>\n

                    \n
                  1. Take some action…<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                     <\/p>\n
