Is your career stagnant because you are lacking confidence?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Conversation #1:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Maybe I\u2019m too old for this”<\/strong>, she said.<\/span>
“Too old for what?” I asked.<\/span>
“Too old to be\u00a0chasing\u00a0promotions and success.”

Conversation #2:<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“I’ve not got what it takes…”<\/strong>\u00a0she said.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“They’ll see through me eventually – they’ll realise I’m not smart enough for this role.”

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Conversation #3:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Working really hard doesn’t get you promoted,”<\/strong> she said.\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“What do you mean?” I asked.
“I’ve been working my butt off for the last 5 years – have I been promoted?\u00a0Well, that’s\u00a0a big fat N-O.”

These are actual conversations I have had with coaching clients.\u200b

Are You Lacking Confidence?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

What I have found, over the years of coaching corporate women, \u200b\u200bis they are often missing two things:

#1 : Confidence<\/strong>
(Definition: confidence<\/a> in your ability, expertise and experience)\u200b\u200b<\/em>

#2 : Strategy<\/strong>
(Definition: defining what you want and aligning yourself with key decision makers to achieve it)\u200b\u00a0\u200b<\/em>

Now, y\u200b\u200bou might argue that a lot of women are up against it too…

Because their gender-biased organisations are actually what hold them back…

(And I don’t disagree with that perspective in the slightest because sadly, far too often, that is also true)…<\/em>

However, the last time I checked,\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b you are still the pilot of your own career – am I right?

So whatever your circumstance, you\u00a0always have choice.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And when you have choice, you also have control<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So regardless of the external circumstances you find yourself in, you still have total control over how you respond to that challenge.<\/p>\n
