Ep 18 – Success, Failure and Dealing with Change: Advice for Women Looking to Enter Law, with Selma Masood
Leading through change is a large component of success in your career. It’s about being adaptable, rolling with the punches and working out what ‘success’ means to you.
My fabulous guest today is Selma Masood and she is sharing her advice to aspiring lawyers to help them deal with the highs, lows and challenges of succeeding and thriving in a competitive and male dominated industry.
Highlights of this ep:
– the importance of being flexible and able to adapt to change
– recognising that success comes from failure
– dealing with criticism and gaining strength from it
– unconscious bias in the legal profession and female leadership
– we must be careful about how we attribute meaning to things
– importance of building a solid support network and seeking out mentors
Best Quote from this episode:
“Success is not final; failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts. You have to stick to what you believe in and never be afraid to fail. You have to keep setting goals for yourself, persevere and work hard. Opportunities come rarely so you must grab them when they are there.” (Selma Masood, guest on Her Ambitious Career podcast)
