Ep 63 – How to Ask For What You Want in Your Career, with guest Pauline Linton
Want some career advice? Here’s how to ask for what you want from your career
I’m delighted to have Paulie Linton from Adobe here with me today. Paulie recently celebrated her 5 year anniversary at Adobe and, in that moment of self-reflection, she posted this delightful message on Linkedin that grabbed my eye.
In her post, she said she was celebrating 5 years at Adobe and wanted to share 5 reasons why she was hoping there would be at least 5 more…
Here’s that list:
1/ The people I work with at Adobe want to see me achieve
2/ I’ve done so much work that I’m proud of
3/ I’ve enjoyed the process as much as the end product
4/ I’ve been a good employee, mum and partner
5/ I’m still not bored – I’m still learning, surrounded by the best minds and the nicest people
Paulie is one to push for her ambitions and isn’t afraid to ask for what she wants in her career but she says that a supportive, caring, ambitious and united culture are also key to her fulfilment and success.
Here’s something that stood out for me in today’s episode:
“You need to be in an environment that is safe for you to ask for what you want from your career. Adobe is a values-driven organisation. We hire people who you trust will do the job – my boss hired me because she knows I have the skills and capability to deliver. Autonomy is critical to feeling you can do exceptional work in an innovative space.” (Paulie Linton, guest on ‘Her Ambitious Career’ Podcast)
