3 Things to DO in 2021

So you might have enjoyed reading my recent post, 3 Things NOT to Do in 2021

And if you want to enjoy greater success in your career, I guarantee those tips will be of value.

So today, I’m here to share some ideas of what you should be doing in 2021 to balance it out.

And here they are:

  1. DO assess what you’re good at
  2. DO replace ‘perfect’ with ‘progress’
  3. DO focus on the value you’re already adding

So why are these 3 my suggested actions for 2021?

Because I find that so often, so many professional women get tangled up undermining their own talent, progress and success and distracted from the mountain of value they are already offering…

So let’s look at each of these in turn to give you some opportunity to make positive change:

  1. DO assess what you’re good at

This is all about focusing on your core strengths. What do you do well? Are you using those strengths on a daily basis? If not, what’s stopping that?

The bottom line: when you play to your strengths regularly, you shine with less effort.

Work out which of your fondest strengths is being under-utilised right now and make every effort to create opportunities to use it.

Once you start showing what you can really do, it’s a game changer.

       2. DO replace ‘perfect’ with ‘progress’

Ahhh… that dreaded word: perfection: the relentless, futile quest for perfect outcomes, perfect presentations, perfect analyses, perfect relationships, perfect… anything…

It’s a one-stop-shop to frustration, stagnation and overwhelm.

I myself am a ‘recovering perfectionist’ and when I released myself from this paralysis, my whole world changed.

Truly, it did.

Focus on making ‘regular progress’ instead. You got it: it’s a game-changer.

      3. DO focus on the value you are already adding

So many professional women doubt their value. Why?

Because it’s a habit; because saying “there is still more to achieve or learn” prevents them from ever risking exposing their ideas and genius; because adding ‘meaningful value’ is such a high value for so many women and that, coupled with ‘perfectionism’, is a bit of a recipe for disaster.

Does one of those resonate with you?

How about breaking that habit (of a lifetime) right now?

You can, if you want to 🙂

And start focusing on all the value you already add… already being the vital word here…

Once you start valuing your own contribution more deeply, well, it’s another game changer.

Make 2021 your year by adopting some healthy behavioural shifts like these…

And see what new results you start to enjoy!
