From Building My Own Coaching Practice, to Helping Others Build Theirs
Today I had the pleasure of presenting for the ICF Charter Chapter of Australasia to a group of highly engaged coaches at the beginning of their coaching journey.
The topic was how to build your coaching practice and clock your first 100 coaching hours.
I was genuinely excited to share both the highs and lows of my own experience over the last decade+ and in how I continue to develop as a coach and as a business owner.
I shared the marketing and sales mistakes I made, the lessons I learned and what I wish I’d known a decade ago when I started out on this journey to coach, add value to others and build a business.
One of the things I value most about our coaching profession is the willingness of my fellow coaches to share knowledge and experiences. There is no single roadmap for building a successful coaching practice, but hearing what others have tried – what worked, what didn’t, and what they would do differently – can save you years of learning the hard way.
I hope the session gave these coaches some practical ideas, a little inspiration, and perhaps some reassurance that building a coaching practice is a journey – and that you don’t need to have it all figured out from day one.
Thank you ICF for inviting me to speak and share my experiences with this cohort of new coaches – it was a pleasure!
